An important date with myself: How scheduling rest saved me from exhaustion

An important date with myself: How scheduling rest saved me from exhaustion

Sleeplessness, coffee and...fridge phones

Let me tell you about the time I thought I could get by on 4 hours of sleep a night for a whole week.

I had TWO design deadlines due, and I figured I had no choice.

By Friday, I was so tired I opened the fridge and just stared, wondering why my phone wasn’t in there.

I was convinced I could push through with coffee and positive vibes alone.

Superhuman or super sleepy?

Did that work?

Absolutely not.

Yes, I hit both deadlines, but one had a MAJOR spelling error in the artwork I sent to print WHOOPS!

Now the word “referred” will forever make me wince 🙈🙈🙈

By the end of the week, I realised that I wasn’t superhuman—I was just tired.

Legendary status

And that’s when I learned that pushing through exhaustion doesn’t make you a hero; it just makes you burnt out.

Rest isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s how we recharge so we can actually function as the legends we are 🌿✨

Save the date...and keep it!

Here’s a tip that’s helped me so much…

Try a 'Rest Date.'

Yep, a date with yourself to do... absolutely nothing.

Put it in your calendar, treat it like a real appointment, and honour it like it’s a meeting with Taylor Swift.

No chores, no emails—just you, a cosy blanket, and your favourite snack 🍿🛋️

Bonus points if you nap.

Remember, strong besties know when to rest 💖✨
